Most material suppliers will try to solve the corrosion and structural problems with products they handle which may or may not be the best option.

Python Corporation will inspect the problem area to determine why there is a failure or to determine how to protect new construction from future failures.

During the inspection we will also need input from the client regarding the intended use of the area, life expectancy and any other requirements they may have.

After the inspection we will work with the client in writing the specification and/or repair method best suited for his problem based on the information found or provided by client.

The specifications or repair methods will list several different material suppliers with products that will satisfy our clients’ requirements.

This service is provided free by Python Corporation, when we are allowed to competitively bid on the project. If we are not allowed to bid, then we would have to negotiate a fee for performing the inspection and writing of the specification or repair method.

For years, the marine industry has recognized that the corrosion protection of docks, ships, seawalls and other marine structures can be an expensive maintenance issue if not addressed correctly. There are many products on the market for the protection of splash zones. Because the splash zone, which is usually defined as approximately eight to ten feet above and below the mean water level, has some unique and harsh requirements, standard paints do not last very long.

Because of the impact of ships and vessels and the corrosion caused by salt or fresh water and the constant wetting and drying, standard thin mil and high build paints simply do not last. To overcome these harsh conditions manufacturers developed epoxy claddings, which integrate various sizes of aggregate and fillers, which allow some degree of movement without cracking, produce a barrier, which is both impact resistant and impermeable. The resulting cladding can absorb impact without cracking and will withstand the constant wetting and drying. Claddings have now successfully been used for many years providing long-term corrosion protection at a minimal cost when amortized over the life of the cladding.

Pressure Grouting

Pressure Grouting is a process of placing a specified grouting material into a void of unknown dimension and volume under pressure to insure that the void is filled to its capacity.

Materials may range from a simple cement slurry, to a structural concrete mix, to a chemical grout. No matter what materials are used, Python Corporation has the ability, equipment and experience to solve your problem.

Why Pressure Grout?

Pressure grouting may be used to:

  • Seal Infiltration
  • Stop Exfiltration
  • Stabilize Structures
  • Fill Known Voids
  • Fill Unknown Voids
  • Stabilize Soil or Raise Existing
    Structures or Slabs.

This may be accomplished on may different types of structures including:

  • Sewers
  • Retaining Walls
  • Roadways
  • Secondary Containment Slabs
  • Parking Aprons, Etc.

In order to pressure grout a specific structure a series of holes may be drilled to determine the approximate size of the void, an investigation is made to determine the approximate volume of materials necessary.

The size of the void and the type of structure determine the type of materials and the necessary equipment to be used in the grouting. Additional holes may be drilled and are designated as grouting or relief holes.

As the grout is pumped, special care is necessary to not over pressure and blow the structure out. The grout is then tracked by way of the relief holes, which are plugged as the grout passes. The use of more than one grouting hole is usually necessary. The structure may either be stabilized or raised, depending on many existing site conditions.

Epoxy & Equipment Grouting

In instances where Pressure Grouting is not the preferred method Python may recommend Epoxy Grouting or Equipment Grouting.

The invention of the procedure for using Polyurea as a field applied coating material was one of the greatest advances in coating technology to occur in the 20th century.

Python Corporation saw the potential of this remarkable coating early on, and aligned ourselves with the inventor, Mr. Dudley Premeaux of Texaco Chemical, to be one of the first contractors to be approved to install this amazing product.

Polyurea is a very unique coating that has a wide range of uses in the Petro/Chemical industry as well as the wastewater market and private sector. This coating is an elastomeric system designed to produce membranes and coatings with superior tensile strength/elongation and tear strength properties.

We can evaluate your needs and specify the proper coating to solve some of your most demanding requirements.

Polyurea coating can be applied in temperatures ranging from 20 degrees F to 120 degrees F without any effect of the cured properties of the finished product. It is moisture insensitive and will maintain its flexibility and elongation properties even in sub zero weather conditions. This combined with Polyurea expansion joint materials make it an excellent choice for freezer room applications. One of its most identifying characteristics is that it has an initial cure time of only 60 seconds. It can be walked on in a matter of minutes and can be immersed in primary containment of wastewater in only a few hours. This feature allows for rapid access to areas that have just been coated.

Polyurea has excellent resistance to caustic, alkalids, and a wide range of acid in lower concentrations. It can also be used as a crack bridging membrane under glass reinforced epoxy, novelac epoxy and vinyl ester systems. When slip resistant Safety is your concern, Python can install rubberized granules into the surface of the wet coating to produce a monolithic slip resistance safety floor to the desired requirement of the service area needs.
